Iittala Taika Coffee Cup

“Taika” means “magic” in Finnish, and you’ll probably feel extra magical when you’re drinking your favorite Nespresso lungo from this cup! Designed in 2007 for Iittala by acclaimed Finnish artist Klaus Haapaniemi. [For some interesting perspective on Haapaniemi’s work, see this blog post — very interesting designs!]
This cup is part of a full line of dinnerware from Iittala, and these cups are offered here via Amazon.com. This cup comes in several colors. If you want a matching saucer, you’ll have to order that separately.
This porcelain coffee cup is a good size for your lungo. Iittala calls this a cappuccino cup, but some who’ve purchased this seem to dispute that. You can read through all the reviews at Amazon yourself, but it seems that some believe the capacity is just too small for a cappuccino. But, I think you’ll find this to be just right for a lungo.
The Amazon description calls this a 6.75-ounce cup, but a kind reviewer measured it for me and says it holds 8 ounces of water to the very brim. Knowing that Nespresso’s factory settings for a lungo are 3.75 ounces, you’ve got a lot of wiggle room there. And, it’s 2.5″ height is an easy fit under your Nespresso spout. No problem there. Made of durable porcelain, microwave and dishwasher safe.
Exact measurements from a reviewer named “Cream Cake”:
3-1/2″ diameter on circle on the top of the cup
2-1/2″ from bottom to top of cup
2-3/4″ diameter on circle on bottom of cup
4″ from outer handle to opposite outside rim of cup
