They’re just plain interesting!

JoyJolt Insulated Coffee Cups, Cadus Style

Double-walled, glass, insulated coffee cups with style.

Okay, this isn’t a lungo cup, but… so many site visitors have ended up purchasing JoyJolt products that I had to check into this brand of double-insulated glass coffee cup.

And, well, check out this Cadus cup! Pretty interesting, isn’t it? When you click through to Amazon’s site, scroll to the “Learn more about the Cadus set” area. You’ll see when this cup is used for a latte, the espresso stays in the center and the milk both drops and rises. I’ve always liked looking at Nespresso coffee just after it’s brewed, but this is an entirely new visual!

This cup comes in 10 ounce and 16 ounce. My link goes to the 10-ounce version since that’s closer to Nespresso’s recommended latte size: 110 ml of espresso and 110 ml of milk.

If you like this glass cup, you’ll probably appreciate JoyJolt’s entire collection of glass cups for a variety of drinks, like martinis, whiskey, tea and wine.

See 10-ounce Cadus version on Amazon.

But there’s nothing like a handmade coffee cup

A Veronica Watkins original — beautiful, earthy colors decorate this coffee mug, perfectly sized for a Nespresso machine.

Despite the many, many beautiful, even artistic, lungo cups I’ve posted on this site over the years, nothing beats a thoughtful, handmade ceramic piece of art, insulating a warm cup of coffee. This is my favorite way to drink coffee, and my favorite lungo mug is shown here, at left.

And I’m sorry, but it’s not for sale.

A collection of Veronica Watkins handmade ceramic coffee mugs.

This is one of many handmade cups I’ve purchased from Northwest Missouri State University’s semi-annual art and pottery sale. It’s a wonderful event, a chance to peruse dozens of potential lungo cups, picking each up, inspecting the grip, studying the design, and measuring the height to ensure it will fit under my Essenza spout. (I can usually eyeball this now, but to be sure, I take out a bill of any denomination and fold it in half. Each bill is six inches, and to fit under the spout, it has to clear 3 1/4″.)

I usually don’t post my handmade mugs here because, well, these are one-of-a-kind mugs and not directly for sale on Amazon. But last month, when I purchased this new addition to my collection, I couldn’t keep Veronica Watkin’s work to myself any more. I realized that I’ve collected a number of her pieces, and they just keep getting better and better.

If you look through her work, you’ll see a beautiful collection of bowls and trays that seem to have sprouted from a sunset over the Badlands. The colors and shapes are soothing and pleasing, almost putting me in a trance.

Veronica teaches ceramics — among many other art courses — at Northwest. She has been inspiring students to develop their curiosity and style since 2002. Imagine how many artists are making coffee cups like this today, thanks to Veronica’s gentle guidance!

Thank you, Veronica, for making my morning coffee even better!

Popular Stainless Espresso and Lungo Cups

I only found these cups after site visitors turned me on to them. I have to admit, they look very cool, especially in this red color. (They’re also available in teal, black and all silver, which also looks nifty!)

The espresso cups have a 2-ounce capacity. They’ll hold a single shot, and even a traditional Macchiato, with a dollop of thick foam.

The lungo cups have a 3.25-ounce capacity, which makes them work for a Nespresso lungo if you like your lungos on the small side. This cup also works for a double shot, or a small cappuccino. Its height is 2 3/8 inches, so it will fit under an Essenza spout.

If you’re concerned about a hot cup burning your lip or causing condensation rings on your tables, these cups have a double-wall construction to keep the heat away from the outside layer, so you won’t burn your hands.

Speaking of hands, if you’re a man with large fingers, you can probably successfully use this cup, at least up to your second knuckle.

Be sure to hand wash — washing in a dishwasher may cause the coating to chip or peel. That said, the seller, Blockwell, seems very responsive to any issues you might have with these.

Tough glass coffee cups by Tealyra

Besides the unmatchable, smooth coffee itself, the best thing about making a Nespresso coffee is the way it looks as its brewing into a clear coffee mug. That’s why there are so many clear coffee mugs here at LungoCups — to help you enjoy the good things in life!

Tealyra Glass Coffee Mug

This 8-ounce Tealyra cup is another option. Its shape is an attractive squat, only 2.83 inches tall, so it will fit nicely under Nespresso spouts.

These cups are made of heat-resistant Borosilicate glass, which, according to Wikipedia has very low coefficients of thermal expansion. Right. We are just coffee lovers, so, what’s that mean to us? It means they will keep your beverage either hot or cold, and the glass is stronger than other common glass.

A plus is that these are dishwasher safe, and customers on Amazon have verified this.

Another plus: there’s a version that comes with matching saucers.

Colorful stainless steel lungo cups

These 8-ounce stainless steel tumblers come in seven different colors at Amazon. This burgundy color here is the best, in my opinion!

The double-walled steel cups keep your coffee hot. The exterior remains heat resistant. And, of course, these re unbreakable coffee cups. That makes them great for travel, outdoors, tailgating, etc. Dishwasher safe.

These fit under your Essenza and Essenza Mini spout.

KeepCup comes in many different color combinations.

This travel cup, made by KeepCup, comes in LOTs of different colors. Most are about $18.00, but this special droid runs a bit more expensive. But it’ll be worth the extra bots when you start getting comments from commuters on the subway!

The droid version is made with tempered, recycled glass, and will keep your coffee hot for a respectable amount of time. The polypropylene lid is a KeepCup perfection — there’s a swivel portion that will seal your cup, or allow a small gap for drinking. There’s a polypropylene band around the center for gripping without burning your hand.

Nespresso View Cappuccino Cups

Elegant. Classic. Beautiful.

These 6-ounce cups are just right for lungos, and of course, look great with a fresh cappuccino swirling around the glass. Mmm.

These come from Nespresso, so you know the quality is there. Tempered glass cups, stainless steel saucers. Both are dishwasher safe, but not microwave safe. Also, we’ve been told that the stainless scratches easily, so if you wash by hand, don’t use an abrasive scrubber.

Available from Amazon.

Nespresso to-go!

In the U.S., we take our coffees to go. It’s not that the Scandinavians and Europeans are wrong to only drink coffee in a mug, sitting in a relaxed setting. That’s a good way to enjoy a Nespresso, for sure. But, sometimes we just need that lungo to go!

For those times, here’s the perfect disposable paper cup, neatly embellished with the Nespresso logo.

Revol coffee cup looks plastic but it’s not!

Revol Crinkle Cup

Looks plastic, but it’s not.

You’ll love this eye-catching, French-design coffee cups! They look like a crumpled plastic cup, but they’re actually dishwasher-safe Porcelain. Several colors available, so stack these up for conversation pieces before serving, and keep the conversation going serving your favorite Nespresso lungo in one of these. The size is just right: Each cup holds 6.25 ounces — so this is best for the lungo lovers who like the stronger version, closer to the factory setting. And, at 3.25″ tall, they’ll fit under your Essenza spout, no problem!

  • Stackable cups are great for serving cappuccino, tapas, desserts and soufflĂ©s

Classica classic lungo cup

NINFEA Classica set of coffee cups and saucersWhen you’re feeling a little on the fancy side, drink your lungo from this classically styled cup: DeaGourmet Ninfea Classica. The Italian design features a smooth and comfortable looped handle for relaxing sipping. Made from fine white porcelain, these are also dishwasher safe.

At 2.83″ high, they’ll easily fit under the spout of your Nespresso Essenza machine, and holding 4.6 ounces, this could be just the right size for your Nespresso lungo.

The matching saucers have just enough space for a small cookie. Hmmm… why not?

A cup of beauty

DeaGourmet Geo Cup with Saucer

Beauty often comes in a simple form. Like a crisp blue sky that gently fades lighter at the horizon. That’s the kind of beauty these porcelain cups from DeaGourmet evoke.

DeaGourmet is an Italian design company that specializes in foodware design. The firm insists on starting with high quality materials, and manufactures its products with a blend of ancient porcelain creation.

These cups are perfect for lungos, as they come in at 2.4″ tall — plenty of room to fit under a Nespresso machine spout. At just under 3″ wide, we figure this will hold roughly 6 to 9 ounces. [We’re in touch with DeaGourmet now to try to get a handle on the exact capacity of each of their cafe cups!] The saucers are perfect for cafe cookies or chocolate treats.

Colorful, stackable espresso cups

Colorful, stackable lungo cups.

This is the first cup I used with my first Nespresso lungo. I’m sure you’re thinking it’s nutty to remember something like that, but that’s the truth. Of course, when you consider how vivid the colors of these lungo cups are, and the handy — and cute — stackable design, well, it’s easy to see how this can be memorable.

So, I had to track them down and make them available here.

These are ceramic coffee cups — 8 ounce capacity, pretty good for lungos. They are about 3.5″ tall, so they’ll just fit under the Essenza spout, with a little tilting. They’re durable, but not cumbersome. Dishwasher safe.

See similar white stackable lungo cups here.

Eva Solo Lungo Tumbler

Eva Solo Lungo TumblerIt’s just hard to argue that the Danish know how to design. And they also tend to appreciate a good cup of coffee, which is why I suppose the designers created this elegant Porcelain cup that’s just the perfect size for a lungo: 230 ml, or 7.78 ounces.

There’s a silicone sheath to protect your fingers from the heat of the coffee. The cup is dishwasher safe, but Eva Solo recommends the sheath be removed before both can be placed in the dishwasher.

This cup is designed by Tools Design, a design studio in Copenhagen that’s received more than 60 design awards, and apparently has quite a following in Denmark. The founders, shown here, are Claus Jensen and Henrik Holbæk.

Available with brown, black or grey silicon sheath.

Norm Thermo Cup by Menu

Norm Thermo Cup by Menu

There’s a lot to like about this Scandinavian-design lungo cup.

• First, it’s a thermo cup, so it’ll keep your coffee hotter longer. Based on reviews at various sites,  most users say the outside stays cool enough to hold while the inside stays hot. That’s the idea, and it seems to work.

• It’s slightly over 3.5″ tall. That means it’ll sit under the spout of your Nespresso Essenza while your coffee dispenses, without you having to hold the cup and wait. But, it is just high enough that you’ll have to tilt the cup a little to get it under the spout, so it’s not a true clearance of the spout. [See this page for more details on the perfect lungo cup height.]

• It holds slightly over 7 ounces, which is about the preferred Nespresso lungo capacity. [Nespresso’s factory lungo setting is 3.75 ounces, which means this cup would be a little over half full — a comfortable capacity!]

Norm Designers

Norm Designers

• It’s Porcelain, so it feels nice to hold.

• It’s made by Menu, a Danish design company that’s come to be known for it’s useful and beautiful designs. The designers, Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen and Kasper Rønn, strive to combine function and beauty. You can see a collection of the Norm line of designs at this page of items from Menu.

Elegant Danish Design Coffee Cup

Royal Copenhagen Ole Coffee CupRoyal Copenhagen is one of Europe’s oldest porcelain factories, and this coffee cup comes straight from that legacy. The name of this cup is Ole, named after the designer, Ole Jensen, and like all of Royal Copenhagen products, it’s handmade of fine porcelain, but also dishwasher safe.

This cup holds 7 ounces, perfect for a Nespresso lungo.

Thai Palm Wood Coffee Cups

Thai Wooden Coffee Cups

I just stumbled upon these beautiful Thai wooden coffee cups and they seem custom-made for a robust lungo. They are only 2.25″ tall, so there’s no problem fitting under the spout of a Nespresso Essenza, and at 3.25″ diameter, I’m guessing these hold about 7 ounces. I’m hoping to hear from the supplier on the exact capacity. If any of you purchase these and can determine this, please let me know!

They are made from Thai palm wood that’s unvarnished with a smooth, food-safe finish. I think the creme from a lungo would look just great in these!

A set includes two cups, two saucers and two spoons.

Available from Amazon.com

Teaology Glass Coffee Cup

Teaology Glass Coffee CupThis cup is really similar to the Bodum double-walled glass coffee cup — but this is made by Teaology. I don’t know much about this cup, but some Nespresso lovers have used it, but not yet reviewed it.

It is 3 inches tall, just like the Bodum, so it will fit under the Nespresso Essenza spout — no hands required! These double-walled, glass cups are really beautiful for showing off the rich Nespresso coffee — and you’ll love watching the coffee being dispensed into this cup– what a show!

This cup holds 4 ounces, so it’s a good lungo size, especially if you tend to use Nespresso’s factory setting, which is 3.75 ounces.

  • 4 oz — perfect for tea/coffee or cold beverages and cocktails
  • 100% Borosilicate Glass
  • High Heat Resistance
  • Set of 2
  • Measures 3″ wide and 3″ tall

Jack by LaCafetiere Double-Walled Cappuccino Glasses

Jack by LaCafetiere 6 ounce lungo cup

LaCafetiere says these cups are 3.5″ high, which is just, just the maximum height to fit under an Essenza spout. The 6-ounce version is a good size for a Nespresso lungo, which is factory set for 3.75 ounces, especially if you re-set your machine to add just a little more water!

A set of 2 of these double-walled, glass cups are from Amazon, where reviews indicate that this is an “excellent” cup.

  • Hand crafted of strong but lightweight borosilicate glass
  • Handwash recommended
  • 6-ounce capacity, but also available in 4-ounce and 9-ounce sizes
  • Double walled construction creates the looks of your beverage floating while keeping your drinks either hot or cold longer

Disposable Plastic 8 oz. Cup

Disposable Plastic 8 oz. Cup

This is a plastic cup, but looks nice, so if you’re having a party and need a plastic cup to offer lungs galore to your guests, this just might do it. They are “about 3.5 inches tall,” according to one purchaser. So, I think these are likely to fit under your Essenza spout.  If anyone who’s purchased these can confirm this, please add a comment to this post!

These are top-shelf dishwasher safe, so they can be re-used. One reviewer calls them “high-quality disposable.”

La Rochere Arum 8.5 oz. Coffee Mug

Screen Shot 2013-01-07 at 9.40.05 AM

This French glass coffee cup will make your lungos look even more tempting than they smell! It makes for a great show as the coffee is being dispensed!

Be advised: this cup is 3.75″ tall, so it will not easily fit under your Essenza machine without tipping the mug. If you’re looking for a glass that fits under the Essenza without tipping, I recommend the Bodum 8-ounce double-wall model or the 4.7-ounce Bodum.

This cup holds 8 ounces, so if you like your lungos on the larger side, you may prefer a cup this size. Nespresso’s factory settings are set at 3.75 ounces for a lungo.

We’re sorry, but this item is no longer available.

8 oz. Belleek Shamrock Mug

Hand painted and hand crafted in Ireland, these fine Porcelain mugs will happily fit under the spout of your Essenza, with a height of 3.2 inches. If you know anything about this brand, then you already know it’s known for high-quality products. Sixteen people work to manufacture, paint and process each piece before it’s approved to be sold. The translucent Porcelain is light, but durable. If your Irish and love Nespresso, this is a no-brainer!

Set of two —  at Amazon.

5.7 oz. Bodum Porcelain Tumbler

Here’s another Bodum Porcelain tumbler, but this one is 6 ounces, whereas the previous post was for an 8-ounce cup. I think some of you might prefer this slightly smaller cup at 6.8 ounces, which is likely to be closer to the size of your Nespresso lungos. Nespresso’s factory settings for lungos are 3.75 ounces, but I tend to make mine about 6 ounces, and sometimes more, or I may even add an extra shot of espresso on those sleepy mornings!

Buyers of these Bodum coffee cups seem to get a lot of compliments on the design — no surprise since Bodum makes some great coffee cups! [See all the Bodum cups we think are best for Nespresso lungos.]

Like the previous post of the 8-oz Bodum Porcelain tumbler, this one has a silicone grip that comes in a variety of colors, including brown, pink, yellow, and blue. Prices range from about $25.00 to $35.00 for a set of two, depending on the color and the seller.

This cup is 4 inches high — it won’t fit under the Essenze spout unless you hold it.

This orange set is available via Amazon. [Available colors vary.]

8 oz. Porcelain Bodum Tumbler

Bodum 8 oz. Porcelain Tumbler

The 8-ounce size of this cup is just right for those of you who like your lungos larger than the 3.75-ounce factory setting. The grey silicon grip helps keep your fingers cool, and the Porcelain keeps the coffee warm. Be advised — one reviewer thought that the silicon grip wasn’t quite strong enough for very hot coffee.

This cup is made by Bodum, a company that really knows how to make coffee lovers happy! This cup is not, however, double-walled nor insulated. See our full collection of Bodum cups for double-walled options.

This cup is 4 inches tall and 3 inches wide at the top. So, it will not fit under the Nespresso Essenza spout unless you hold it as the coffee is dispensed. If you have an Essenza, a cup needs to be 3.5″ tall or less; see this page for more information and photos related to fitting a cup under your Essenza spout.

This cup is also offered with yellow, orange and blue grips. The price will vary for a set of two, depending on the source. Each of these links takes you to Amazon.com, which fulfils all of the orders.

Set of 2, at Amazon.com.

Stackable Lungo Cups

Stackable Lungo Cups Thanks to a recent LungoCups.com visitor for spotting these super-handy lungo cups! They fit 5 ounces if you fill to the very top, so, there’s plenty of room for Nespresso’s factory setting of 3.75 ounce lungo.  This cup set gets a lot of rave reviews at Amazon: 4.5 stars out of 5 at the time of this post, with more than 200 customer reviews.

Customers are using this cup for lungos and cappuccinos, mostly. They like the low profile that fits under a low spout, like the Nespresso Essenza.

These are Porcelain, with four to a set. You can see by the image that they come with a stackable stand and saucers. In white only.

“Funky gorgeous!” double-walled cup

Curva Artisan Double-Walled Glass Cups

These super stylish, handmade, double-walled glass cups come to us from Ozeri, a design firm that specializes in modern homes. This cup set features four distinctly different designs, each with its own curve style that’s set within an insulated double wall to not only show off its design, but also to keep your hands cool when you’re drinking your hot Nespresso lungo! Since these cups are thermo, they also are free of condensation when you use them for chilled beverages.

As one reviewer put it, these cups are “funky gorgeous!”

The cup stands at about 3.5″ tall, which means it will just fit on your Nespresso Essenza machine without having to hold the cup in place while your lungo dispenses.

Like the Bodum double-walled glass cups, these are also on the fragile side, so it’s best not to put them in the dishwasher — even though the manufacturer says you can, and also offers a one-year warranty. Treat it gently, and each will delight you and your guests with a funky lungo shape.

Disposable to-go lungo cups

Dixie 8 oz. To-Go Coffee Cup

Dixie 8 oz.

If you’re just looking for a disposable travel coffee cup to grab and go, it’s harder to find than you’d imagine, isn’t it? After all, you see them everywhere — kinda like the one here, to the left, made by Dixie. But, most are either 12 ounce or 16 ounce, and you want one that’s 8-10 ounces. So, I’ve looked around, and this post has links to some of your options. I hope you like them — if you find any others, please reply to this post and let me know!

The Dixie 8 ounce cup shown to the left can be purchased at Amazon in varying package quantities. The links here take you to the 160-count page.  The trouble is, this package does not come with lids.  You have to order them separately, and they come in varying package sizes, too. But guess what? Not in 160-count! Here’s a link to a 100-count package at Amazon.com.

160 count Cups: Available at Amazon.com.

Lids also available at Amazon.com.

Here’s another option made by HOMMP. It’s a very durable, 8-ounce coffee travel cup. These come with lids, so there’s no fuss ordering cups and lids separately. These are extra-thick cups and just the right height — 3.5″ tall, so they’ll fit under your Nespresso spout.

Lungo to go! Star Wars version!

KeepCup is a to-go cup you’re going to really love. I have two myself, in different colors. This is just what you need if you’re looking for a smaller travel coffee cup; but KeepCup also has these available in 12-ounce and 16-ounce versions, if you need an entire set!

Here’s why you’ll love these travel lungo cups:

• They’re just the right size for your lungo, with an 8-ounce capacity.

• They feel good when you hold them. The plastic has a nice finish to it, and the rubber ring shields you from the hot coffee.

• The lid doesn’t cut your lip when you sip! The soft plastic is contoured just right, and it feels good when you sip. You probably have experiences other to-go cups that feel funny on your lips, but the KeepCup designers know this, and designed a lid that feels good. This is probably one of many reasons this cup has won a number of design awards!

• They don’t require heating before filling, so your lungo stays hot.

• Great color options! The cup featured here (called “jalapeno”) shows a bright orange band with a red topper, but there are lots of other color combinations.

This cup is 3.5″ tall, so it’ll just fit under an Essenza spout: you don’t have to hold it in place while your lungo dispenses if you use the Essenza Nespresso model.

Available from Amazon.com.

Bodum 5-ounce Lungo Cup

Bodum 5 oz Lungo Cup

A favorite for lungo fans, this Bodum 5-ounce cup is a great cup for your Nespresso lungo, or a double-shot of espresso. We love Bodum cups because they make the coffee look as good as it tastes! The double-walled glass is meticulously engineered to keep the outside wall comfortable to hold, while the insulation and inside cup keeps your coffee hot.

If you like your lungos with a little more water, then you may need a cup with a larger capacity. Use the Categories to the right, or the “Capacity” navigation at the top of this page, to find the size that’s right for you. Nespresso machines are factory set at 3.75 ounces, so for most of you, this 5-ounce capacity should be plenty.

The size is just right to fit in your Nespresso machines, even the Essenzas and Citiz.

Bodum says these are dishwasher safe, but be careful. Lots of reviewers who’ve purchased Bodum double-walled cups find they are sensitive.  If you have any experience with Bodum cups for your lungos, please post here. We’d all love to hear from you!

Michael Lin Cappuccino Cups by Illy

If you know coffee, you know Illy, and if you know Illy, you may know about the “Illy Art Collection,” which regularly introduces a limited line of espresso and cappuccino cups, like this set designed by Michael Lin. This floral collection is signed and numbered by the artist himself.

In this cup collection, you’ll get six handleless cups, each with a different floral saucer, so as a set, you’ll have a bouquet of coffee! These cups are featured here because they are 2.25″ tall and hold 6 ounces — a perfect size for a Nespresso lungo! Of course, they also are perfect for small, European-sized cappuccinos, as that’s Illy’s intent.

Lin’s art typically features floral motifs inspired by Taiwanese textiles, and often is architecturally focused. The YouTube video below shows a nice interview with Lin and features some of his large pieces of work, as well as his inspirations.

Polish Design Mug

Polish Pottery MugThis floral pattern stoneware mug is a classic Polish design… and the mug is made in Poland. It holds 8 ounces, so a perfect lungo size.

Unfortunately, I don’t know how high this mug is, but it looks plenty low enough to clear the spout of Nespresso’s Essenza model. If any of you order this, please leave a comment below and let us know how tall this mug is, please!

This mug is not currently available, but there are similar ones at Amazon.

The Nespresso Glass Espresso Cup

This is the glass you see in all of the Nespresso images… it makes for a beautiful espresso, doesn’t it? Looks especially tempting as the last drop of coffee bounces into the cup — or when George Clooney is holding it!

This cup is a little difficult to find online. That’s because it’s a little buried at Nespresso.com’s US site. You have to log in to the Nespresso Club area first, then navigate through to the “Accessories.”

If you’re visiting from the U.K., this is probably sold out there, so try ordering from the U.S. site through links here.

Astrology Mugs

Pices Astrology Mug

Pices

Art and astrology are beautifully, and somewhat whimsically, combined in these astrology mugs. The bright and retro design is reminiscent of my the set of “Laugh In” — I can almost see Goldie Hawn dancing in her go-go boots!

This featured mug is Pisces. If you just like the design, you don’t have to tell anyone it’s supposed to represent Pisces!

This mug is on the large side at 10 ounces. But, it’s included here for those of you who either like your lungos big, or you just like extra room in your cups. It’s also a good size for cappuccinos. It’s only 3″ high, so it will fit nicely on an Essenza machine. The diameter is 3.75″.

The design house here is interesting… these mugs are designed by French Bull, a specialty design shop that creates its pieces with melamine, an organic compound used in many items, including retro-themed housewares.

So, whether you like the funy ’70s design, or if you’re just into astrology, maybe this is the lungo cup for you! Get one for each member of your family, or have a lungo party — just be sure to invite one friend from each Zodiac sign!

Norman Ave Thermo Mugs

Norman Ave Thermo MugsHere are some really cool mugs with a design that can only come from Scandinavia: the Norman Ave mug by Creative Danes.

First, the important specs: these are 3.5″h x 3.25″d and each holds 210 ml or roughly 7.1 ounces. Yes, this is a bit high, especially for the Nespresso Essenza. So, if you’ve got that machine, you’d have to hold this mug in place while your lungo dispenses… but if you have the Pixie, you can flip the drip tray down to make room for a higher mug.

More about this mug: each is hand painted (but there’s no paintbrush!), and each features insulated double walls to keep beverages hot. So, it’s a lot like the Bodum lungo cup, in that sense. Also, each comes with a porcelain lid that doubles as a saucer — a very Danish touch!

Okay, now about the source where you can buy these puppies: Apt2B.com. If you live in the L.A. area, you may know this place. This is a group of with-it designers who know retail, but mostly they know what people want: style without expense.  They make furnishing a home or apartment easy (at least in the L.A. area) by delivering all of your decor at once. When you visit their web site (they don’t have a retail store, eliminates expensive overhead), check out their room packages: they’ve got it all planned out, or you can design your own. Funny thing is, this is a group of really stylish people, but they don’t have Nespresso machines… Seems every apartment in L.A. should have a Pixie!

“Favorite Blends” Lungo Cup Set

Lungo Cuup SetHere’s a set of lungo mugs made just for Nespresso fans: each features a lungo blend. So, when you’re in the mood for a Fortissio, no problem. Finezzo? Got it. There’s a mug for each of the four lungo blends, so if you get them all, you’ll  have a set that’s ready for each of your lungo moods!

The design is a classic coffee-shop blackboard motif with chalk-like writing and drawing — and, of course, the lettering is color coded to match your pods! The message is printed on two sides of the cup. Since this is from Zazzle, you have the opportunity to customize this mug, if you’d like. When you click on the images below, you’ll be taken to Zazzle where you can change the words on each side. So, maybe you’d like to make the message more personal… something like: “Mike’s Favorite: Fortissio,” or “For After 7 o’Clock: Decafeinato.” You decide, or just keep the cups as is.

Each mug is hand printed by Zazzle.com, where you’ll receive excellent customer service. Microwave and dishwasher safe.

Order individually for the set. Click on the each cup below to order.

Design Your Own Coffee Mug

You can also create your own coffee cup design!

Iittala Taika Coffee Cup

Iittala Taika Coffee Cup“Taika” means “magic” in Finnish, and you’ll probably feel extra magical when you’re drinking your favorite Nespresso lungo from this cup! Designed in 2007 for Iittala by acclaimed Finnish artist Klaus Haapaniemi. [For some interesting perspective on Haapaniemi’s work, see this blog post — very interesting designs!]

This cup is part of a full line of dinnerware from Iittala, and these cups are offered here via Amazon.com. This cup comes in several colors. If you want a matching saucer, you’ll have to order that separately.

This porcelain coffee cup is a good size for your lungo. Iittala calls this a cappuccino cup, but some who’ve purchased this seem to dispute that. You can read through all the reviews at Amazon yourself, but it seems that some believe the capacity is just too small for a cappuccino. But, I think you’ll find this to be just right for a lungo.

The Amazon description calls this a 6.75-ounce cup, but a kind reviewer measured it for me and says it holds 8 ounces of water to the very brim. Knowing that Nespresso’s factory settings for a lungo are 3.75 ounces, you’ve got a lot of wiggle room there. And, it’s 2.5″ height is an easy fit under your Nespresso spout. No problem there. Made of durable porcelain, microwave and dishwasher safe.

Exact measurements from a reviewer named “Cream Cake”:

3-1/2″ diameter on circle on the top of the cup
2-1/2″ from bottom to top of cup
2-3/4″ diameter on circle on bottom of cup
4″ from outer handle to opposite outside rim of cup

Italian-made glass coffee cup

Cappuccino Cup with Stainless Steel Handle

Here’s a classic design: glass cup with stainless steel handle. Very European. Made by Italian glassware company Bormioli Rocco Verdi, this cappuccino cup is made with tempered glass, suitable for hot or cold beverages.

But of course, we want to use this for our lungos, and with an 8-ounce capacity, this size will definitely hold the factory setting 3.75-ounce lungo, but also is good for those of you who change the settings and add a little more water. The glass style makes for a beautiful display of Nespresso’s rich lungo.

The handles are removable for easy cleaning. If you’re concerned about this handle, here’s a handy quote from an Amazon review: “i have normal size old lady hands and 3 fingers fit in handle.” At the time of this post, this lungo coffee cup had earned a 4.1 star out of 5-star rating from Amazon, with 31 total reviews. Not bad!

You get  four to a set in a gift box.

Available from Amazon.com.

Lavazza Cup Set

Lavazza Cup SetOK, we know this is crazy. After all, you’re brand is Nespresso, so why drink Nespresso from a Lavazza cup? Well, if you like coffee, then you probably know and appreciate the Italian brand coffee, Lavazza. And maybe you’re like us, and you like to travel, too.

If that’s the case, then this coffee mug can bring back some nice travel memories as you sip your favorite Nespresso lungo!

Another thing about this mug is the size: it’s 5.5 ounces. That’s just about as small as a mug can get to fit Nespresso’s factory lungo setting of 3.75 ounces. So, if you’ve altered your settings, or if you like your lungos with a little more water, then this mug will be too small. This is for those of you who really like a small/short, rich coffee.

Comes in a set of 6 cups and saucers.

Available at Amazon.com.
